We chose to do our hot pressed designs with the dye subliminal method as it does not have a plastic/rubber-coated feel to the fabric, lasts much longer and does not peel off.  Ceramics (mugs and plaques) are dishwasher/microwave safe.  The dyes actually turn to gas and migrate into the medium pressed.
